    Who said I don’t look good…

In the last few years, I have become more and more comfortable about my looks. In fact, I have started to believe I’m “good looking“,  yes it’s true [ Ok, stop laughing ]. I repeat again, I believe I’m good looking. My confidence was sky high till my mom pulled out few of my old photographs, like an hour ago.  😦

Now, here’s the reality. Like most of us, I don’t post exciting photos ( like the one’s mom showed me ) on Facebook, which means I shift+del seventy percent of my photos and the rest thirty percent just about make me look good, which in turn gives me confidence and solace 😛

As a kid I won’t say I had a complex simply because in this part of the world I was considered “fair” skinned [ getting explicitly racist here, haan haan judge saab main racist hoon, chada do mujhe sooli pe ] and that is an huge advantage. So, it was more like I didn’t want to see myself in the mirror, that’s all.  😛

I don’t have the guts to share all the photos my mom showed me. However, here are 5 of the most irresistible passport size photographs from that dreaded album. By the way, you guessed it right, these are the worst amongst the best. I look far more charming in the rest. [ The other lot would simply knock you unconscious. poor you ]

WARNING: Watching the below photographs for more than 2 minutes may lead to seizures, nightmares, nausea and a possible heart attack.

    Photos

5 – Clicked way back in 1997. I don’t know how my classmates felt about that. Hmmm…now I know, why no girl spoke to me at school.

4– This was during my last year at year school. Look at that silly moustache * idiot *

2– First year Engineering. Looked “Okay”. Finally few girls spoke to me

1 – It was clicked during the ICC cricket WC 2003. What a pity.

3 – eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yuck! about to puke.

I won’t ask you to share your story because I know we all have these embarrassing photographs. All, I want to say is you’re beautiful ( So am I…Finally, I pull back some confidence, thanks to that cheesy closing statement )

Hey, well done, Narendra, good one. I have had a beard since I was 21when I went to college without my razor and thought, what the heck ! Once every 10 years or so someone dares me to shave it off – if it is a goodish dare (I don’t know what I mean by that) – I have – but then I am scary !! My beard will grow back in about 4 days so I just stay indoors….hahahaaha

Hehehe Narendra – I almost fell off my seat, while reading your funny post.

See, humour works in posts – see so many comments here. Great writing style.

Picture number 2 rocks beautiful – little wonder the gals started drooling. Lol

You are right, you know, we all have some embarassing photos – a friend of mine once scavenged some old pics of friends (dating 4 years ago), threatening to post on FB. Everyone looked not-quite-pretty in them – we thought it belonged to our secret archives.

You are sooo bold (and beautiful). Hehe

Must visit, Must read, Must follow

Very few connection’s are made out of nowhere and this is one such story.

Weeks ago I visited daily post blog. I was there to seek inspiration to blog daily. I read through the list of comments and finally stopped at “Blockader” ( means a strategic barrier ). I saw this middle aged man with shabby hair and unkept beard ( By the way, his often mistaken for Tom Cruise, way to go Brad ). For some reason, I left a message showing

    Tom "Brad" Cruise

    Tom "Brad" Cruise

interest to be his blog buddy. Really, I don’t know why I did that ( Maybe, I should have looked for a pretty girl 😛 ).

    Tom Cruise

    Tom Cruise

I will be honest, the first time I visited his blog, it looked plain uninspiring. On that day he had posted about an Ice hockey game at Church ( You see I’m from India, I neither connect to Church nor Ice hockey, I have never seen snow for that matter ). For a moment I thought I shouldn’t be his WordPress buddy, I can’t relate to his world but you see, some connection’s are made to last and they are completely beyond our control. I resisted my temptation to hit the unsubscribe button. Couple of days later, I was slowly able to grasp his sense of humor ( but yes, still can’t get it all ). Personally, for me happiness is paramount. I woudn’t want to be reading a depressing blog or something filled with cuss words or needless criticism. I love happy blogs and his posts were getting extremely enjoyable. Out went the idea of unbuddying ( Just coined a new word, don’t look up on google, there’s no such word ).

Few days later Brad came out with what was his shortest post ( guess it has less than 100 words)  but it packed a mighty punch. An honest and sincere post, the essence lies in these closing lines ” But today, if I can make you laugh, and put a smile on your face, then that means the world to me“. Big thumbs up to Brad. From that day, I stopped worrying about the differences in our culture, food or looks ( but hey, I look no less than Tom Cruise ). I could connect to his thoughts, I could relate to his world, I could understand his views. Suddenly I realized, here is a man who writes to spread smiles and that for me is,was and always be the single biggest reason for following his blog.

Since then I been an avid follower of his posts and due to the time zone thing, I get to comment first, well before his friends. It’s a joy reading his posts, never fails to deliver. As of today his blog is the 6th fastest growing blog on wordpress and his little gem on Jan 21st was featured in Freshly Pressed segment. Extremely happy for Brad. Having said that, even if he wasn’t featured in that list, I would still keep visiting his blog with glee.

Thank you for all the entertainment. Keep posting Tom “Brad” Cruise.

    I strongly recommend his blog, it’s a must visit,must read, must follow – http://www.blockader.wordpress.com

You do realize I only get mistaken for Tom Cruise when I jump on sofas right? 🙂 It may seem a little self-centered, but I am going to click “like this post”. Thanks for the kind words.
