    Why I started Blogging ?

I had registered with Blogger way back in 2006. However, it was not until Jan 2009 did I start Blogging. I kept procrastinating till I set chatting with a lovely girl. During one of our mindless chats she was like ‘ Hey, Why don’t you Blog ‘ I don’t remember why and how the topic of Blogging came up but she managed to coax me to Blog. So I did some research, couple of days later I published my first post, it was about ‘Anger’.

She liked my post so did few others,  that gave me lots of happiness and confidence to Blog frequently. It’s extremely unfortunate that the person who inspired me to Blog is no longer in talking terms with me, in fact we lost track the very same year. Every time I login to Blog I remember her and Thank her for sowing the seeds of Blogging, without her I doubt Blogging would have been part of my system.

There’s one more reason why I continued to Blog after the initial hoopla. I figured out that most girls out here found it as something “intelligent” and “Suave”. Like at a job I took up in mid-2009, within Days all the girls at office knew about my Blog, and suddenly everybody knew me. It is such a wonderful feeling when people like you even without knowing you. I would like to believe my Blog gave them an insight about my personality, which built positive projections. Moreover, I was the only one who Blogged at that office which clearly helped me score points over others.

So, that was a phase where I posted because I found recognition among the fairer sex. Once I crossed that stage, I took up the ‘Post a Day Challenge’.  It went on well for 3 months and then monotony was taking away the joy the Blogging so, I scaled down and went back to Adhoc ways.

I never considered myself as a serious Blogger though I handle Blogs for corporates, my personal Blog is just a fun place, a workshop of sorts where I capture my views and opinions on stuff that matters to me.

What’s your story? How and Why did you start to Blog Who was your inspiration ? feel free to share in the comments section or best write a post and leave the link.

Day 1: Fair & Lovely Challenge

Off late there’s a sudden spurt in TVC’s of fairness creams. Several product companies are trying hard to woo the public. So, I thought of doing a small experiment. Here are the details

    Topic: Fairness challenge

    Product: Fairness Cream

    Brand: Fair & Lovely

To do: Apply fairness cream twice a day ( as per instructions )

    Guinea Pigs: Latha and Roja

    Duration: 11th July – 17th July

We started this challenge last night, here is the pic.

Note the spots on Roja’s forehead and Latha’s right cheek ( sorry it’s hidden 😛 ). The company claims that consistent use of the cream for a week will reduce spots and increase fairness. lets track this.

P.S: Please share your beauty tips. Help these girls get rid of their skin travails and attain flawless skin.

Who is the last person I’d want to be stuck in an elevator with?

Luckily for me, I have hardly had unruly relationship with someone. I can’t think of anyone be it a schoolmate, college mate, teacher, boss, co-worker or anyone I have known to have shared extremely bitter relationship. I did have difficulties and disagreements with many however, not to an extent that I would go for their throat or end up in a deadlock scenario if we were to be stuck on an elevator. Maybe I might feature in others I-don’t-want-to-see-him-again list but there’s no one in my list. 😛

So who is that I fear the most to be stuck on an elevator with? It’s my DAD. Yes! my father. 🙂  It’s not that we hate each other or have an unhealthy relationship, it’s just that our relationship is extremely ” Indian” in nature, here’s why.

Like most Indian families, there’s a huge power distance between my father and me. We’re not friends, he’s my father and I’m his son and that mismatch will stay forever. As a kid, out of the three siblings, I happened to have spent the most time alone with him, just we two. Right from visits to market [ which I always found enthralling ] to attending outstation marriage ceremonies, most of the times it was me and dad. And, whenever I used to go out with him, we hardly spoke to each other. I remember the countless minutes we have spent waiting at hospitals, It’s something which remains deeply etched in my memories simply because of my helplessness in that scenario. We both would sit there all day and hardly utter a word to one another. On a particular day, we waited for over 8 hours and yet we hardly had a conversation. Those were days when he was highly temperamental and aggressive so, to avoid any adverse situation I would remain quiet and seldom talk to him, only answer his queries, that’s all :-P. With time and age he did mellow down drastically however, the equation between us still remains the same. As of now, we do have chats occasionally however, it’s still not the way I would want it to be. 😀

I’m a person who likes to talk a lot but if I were to be stuck with him, I will just stare at the elevator’s door and desperately hope for the lift to move ASAP. Moreover, when I’m with him I feel a tinge of nervousness, and that is something I so like to hate. I pray that I would never get into that scenario. Just to imagine myself trapped with him in itself makes me go cold. 😀

How about you? who is that you don’t want to be stuck in an elevator with?

Hhehehhhee..It’s the case in many Indian families..that’s how it is meant to be..parents have to be parents..they don’t have to be ur friends..that’s a separate category..tht’s one reason u wud find most Indians disciplined..courtesy parents..Do u think a kid wud be disciplined if his parents treated him as a friend? 😀

I used to know an old guy, let’s call him Reg, who had long passed the point of caring when, how, or who he was with, when passing wind ! Reg didn’t give a damn. If it was in – it was coming out – even if he was surrounded by strangers, friends, even maybe the Queen. Stuck in lift with Reg? Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo

I spent most my day dozing and watching…

I spent most my day dozing and watching Television. In fact I didn’t see a single delivery of the Sri Lanka – Australia World Cup match [ Sadly, the match has been washed out due to heavy downpour 😦 ]. Most of the day was boring till I got online. Yes, Internet is such a lovely. I opened my gmail and found a offline message from 10 year old Kevin. He Said ” Hi Dude, you never online, you forgot me? ” next line “ I remember you. Learn this magic trick and show me when I come there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra9v81GEEkQ&feature=relmfu

I clicked the link and since then I have seen more than dozen such exciting magic tricks. These tricks are so cool, you might have seen them at your school or at local carnivals. As a kid I used to be enthralled by magic shows, at times scared too. I didn’t want the magician guy to call me for the ” egg hatching trick” or the ” vanishing trick ” didn’t want to be gone forever. Magic Shows are so much fun. Now here’s a chance for everyone of us to learn few simple tricks and go cool among our friends, family and colleagues 😛

    Four Aces

    Coin Trick

Rope Trick  [ Not the great Indian rope trick 🙂 ]

Coin Trick [ Look how the magicians make a fool out of us 🙂 ]

    Floating card

Go. Learn them. Become a star 🙂

    P.S: Thank You Kevin.

    Gyaan!

Earlier in the day Sridharan brothers, Manu and Krish dropped by. Manu recently joined a Karate School and he’s loving it. In this Video he shows of skills. Ooooohhhwaaa! 😛

Little later, Krish had enough of his brother’s circus, he jumped out of his seat and did his bit. See this.

    beyblade

Post the Karate show, Manu gave me end-to-end “gyaan” on Beyblades, their make, types, names and strategies [ Yes! it’ s not child’s play, involves lot of “strategy” ]. I was completely blown away by the entire strategy thingy, totally immersed in that profound discussion.  Before his sermon, I was in a foolish assumption that Beyblade was a modern day version of the good old spinning top. I was so wrong.

I learnt something new today, that makes me extremely happy.

When was the last time you learnt something new from a kid?  Please share your story.

    The Real Heroes

What’s the difference between you and us? “I don’t wear hockey pads”   * mind blowing *

That’s batman for you, in his deep bass tone. The dark night, the outcast, the masked hero. I am sure we all fancied superheroes as kids and I still fancy them, how about you?

My fascination towards superheroes started quite early, muscle men like He-Man and Captain Marvel always got me super excited. I particularly enjoyed the larger than life frame where Adam raises his sword and proclaims “ By the power of grayskull..I have the power” sparks fly around transforming his tiger into a mighty battle cat and Adam becomes He-Man “the most powerful man in the universe” wooowwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!! [ me at end of the spectrum 🙂 ].

Then there was the lesser popular hero Captain Marvel (Shazam!). As a kid, I was in total awe of his charismatic smile [ you will always find him smiling even if he is surrounded by scores of baddies ]. He too is blessed with superpowers and belts the villians with effortless ease.

Hey, not to forget the superheroines supergirl, batwoman, Elasti-girl etc they have successfully managed to charm boys across the globe. Their endearing smile, curvaceous bodies, killer looks combined with kick ass stunts made me scream for more. How I wish I had a girl friend like them [ Oh No! bad idea. What if I mess up? Imagine the beating I would receive? poor me ]

At School, I don’t remember seeing any fancy dress competition go without out a superhero clone. A friend of mine made an infamous superman act in his loosely fitted, bright red underwear, it was loose enough to evoke plenty of giggles from the girls. On a different day I saw a 3 foot batman struggling to keep his mask from covering his eyes [ come on kid, bat is blind right 😉 ] and bickering away at the older bullies. I am dead sure each one of us have dozens of such superhero memories.

What’s sad is though we watched them in awe, spent countless hours with friends discussing their extraordinary stunts, we simply never learnt the nicer lessons. Guess, just where the superheros had to be taken seriously my 2-d icons failed to go beyond the human evils, my superheroes won the battle…lost the war.

    Who said I don’t look good…

In the last few years, I have become more and more comfortable about my looks. In fact, I have started to believe I’m “good looking“,  yes it’s true [ Ok, stop laughing ]. I repeat again, I believe I’m good looking. My confidence was sky high till my mom pulled out few of my old photographs, like an hour ago.  😦

Now, here’s the reality. Like most of us, I don’t post exciting photos ( like the one’s mom showed me ) on Facebook, which means I shift+del seventy percent of my photos and the rest thirty percent just about make me look good, which in turn gives me confidence and solace 😛

As a kid I won’t say I had a complex simply because in this part of the world I was considered “fair” skinned [ getting explicitly racist here, haan haan judge saab main racist hoon, chada do mujhe sooli pe ] and that is an huge advantage. So, it was more like I didn’t want to see myself in the mirror, that’s all.  😛

I don’t have the guts to share all the photos my mom showed me. However, here are 5 of the most irresistible passport size photographs from that dreaded album. By the way, you guessed it right, these are the worst amongst the best. I look far more charming in the rest. [ The other lot would simply knock you unconscious. poor you ]

WARNING: Watching the below photographs for more than 2 minutes may lead to seizures, nightmares, nausea and a possible heart attack.

    Photos

5 – Clicked way back in 1997. I don’t know how my classmates felt about that. Hmmm…now I know, why no girl spoke to me at school.

4– This was during my last year at year school. Look at that silly moustache * idiot *

2– First year Engineering. Looked “Okay”. Finally few girls spoke to me

1 – It was clicked during the ICC cricket WC 2003. What a pity.

3 – eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yuck! about to puke.

I won’t ask you to share your story because I know we all have these embarrassing photographs. All, I want to say is you’re beautiful ( So am I…Finally, I pull back some confidence, thanks to that cheesy closing statement )

Hey, well done, Narendra, good one. I have had a beard since I was 21when I went to college without my razor and thought, what the heck ! Once every 10 years or so someone dares me to shave it off – if it is a goodish dare (I don’t know what I mean by that) – I have – but then I am scary !! My beard will grow back in about 4 days so I just stay indoors….hahahaaha

Hehehe Narendra – I almost fell off my seat, while reading your funny post.

See, humour works in posts – see so many comments here. Great writing style.

Picture number 2 rocks beautiful – little wonder the gals started drooling. Lol

You are right, you know, we all have some embarassing photos – a friend of mine once scavenged some old pics of friends (dating 4 years ago), threatening to post on FB. Everyone looked not-quite-pretty in them – we thought it belonged to our secret archives.

You are sooo bold (and beautiful). Hehe

Finally, after a long wait my good friend, Karthik Manoharan has got into blogging. His brand of humor is impeccable, at times below the belt 🙂 however, extremely enjoyable and funny. I’m so very glad to see his blog. I’m sure he would provide generous offerings of his funny side on his blog. If you’re looking for a blog which would lift up your spirit and make you smile then, Karthik’s factory is meant for you. Highly recommend, let the production begin – http://www.karthisfactory.wordpress.com
