    Incredible Hulk – I

Many years ago, I was fiercely inspired by Superheroes. An ardent follower of the likes of Captain Marvel ( he’s always smiling ) and He-Man, I like many kids secretly nursed aspirations to be one of them.

But fate wasn’t kind on me, my medical condition didn’t allow me to be as physically active as I wouldhulk have ideally desired . Over time I neglected my physical health, it got worse over time and dipped to alarming levels. Finally, after all the coaxing ( read as threats ) from parents & family and some random spark of  enlightenment, I was ready to address my physical needs.

As luck would have it, Mahesh decided to transfer his Gym membership to me, 99F is a decent place with a great panaromic view of the city. I guess the place is little small for a Gym, during peak hours the place would probably be reminiscent of Ranganthan street.

The first day I walked into the floor, I saw few gigantic men sweating away for glory. All beefed up and pumping in some serious, heavy-duty IRON. An inspiring sight for someone who is at the exact opposite end of the spectrum.

The Gym in itself houses interesting set of people, lots of youngsters, few oldies, few fat girls, friendly trainers and sharp housekeepers.

My trainer is a young lady, physiotherapist by profession, carries an infectious smile however, she’s strict in her own way and I’m glad there’s a healthy sync between us, which is already yielding positive results. Besides her, we have another young lady with reddish eyes, for a second I thought she was one of the Cullens 🙂 there are also couple of strong men ( male trainers ), one of whom I like to refer as “Hulk”, just like Captain Marvel he’s always smiling, quite endearing for a big guy.

Among the members, there’s an elderly lady who caught my attention for her stupendous spirit and astounding energy ( She’s rides the cycle at over 85RPM / level 6, trust me that’s brilliant ). For now she’s my benchmark, I want to emulate her in the medium term.

The other members I get to see during my time slot are mostly young men, all trying to stay in shape. The women who come in are kind of on the heavier side, trying hard to shed the excess kilos. I was particularly struck by a short, chubby girl who was going nuts on the spin machine, extremely impressed by her zest to stay fit.

However, my personal favorite at the Gym is the dietician, who for some reason doubles up as the admin/receptionist. A smart looking lady with a gentle smile. And a quick mention about the celebrity member, a flop movie star, Shantanoo literally goes unnoticed. I didn’t even know he existed till my trainer pointed out the other day 🙂

I’m thankful to Mahesh for getting me into this and I hope I would do well and improve my fitness levels and maybe someday I would walk out as the next “Incredible Hulk”  🙂

    Day 6: Fair &Lovely challenge

Day 6 of the Fair & Lovely challenge and it’s the same old story. In a  nation obsessed with “fairness”  it’s more than a crime for a girl to be on the darker side. And I wouldn’t want my niece to be discriminated just because of her skin tone 😐

I understand one cannot change their basic skin color however fairness cream’s like Fair & Lovely have made their millions catering to this insecurity and madness of we Indians. Anyways I can’t blame them, I’m just disappointed with the results.

Here’s Roja on Day 6, I have sneaked into the frame for some cheap publicity, bear my “charming” looks  😛

hey..i want to tell u dat all of us are born wid a basic skin colour that gets it’s colour from melanin. it is a genetic code given to us by our parents. if ur parents r dark, u will be dark. if ur parents are light skinned, u will be light skinned. so, u can not change the colour of the skin u were born with. that’s why africans have black kids and white people don’t have black babies. if u get fair skin, either both or one of ur parents or ancestors were fair. i can understand ur concern for fair skin coz india is a pre-industrialized racist country. i want to tell u that you should not feel sad because of your skin tone. maintain a healthy skin, have a good body, enhance your features. deepika padukone, bipasha basu, chitrangada singh, etc. are dark skinned but named most beautiful women of india. if you still want to lighten your skin tone, you can use milk, besan, turmeric and lemon face pack. also, you can use a product with liquorice (mulethi) extracts, kojic acid and niacinamide (which fair and lovely contains). also, use retin-a for exfoliation every other night. any treatment should be used for 2-3 months and sunscreen 50 and above is a must. have confidence. Westerners vie for our tanned look!

“I have sneaked into the frame for some cheap publicity…” haha, nice one. Being away I didn’t follow these postings but I think I get the picture. Ironic that we whiteys want to be brown or at least tanned. Roja is lovely the way she is. Sad that there is so much pressure to lighten the skin tone. I, for one, find Indian people elegant in their skin tones and especially the way the ladies dress with such colour and style. Tell Roja she’s just fine – in fact, very fine indeed.

    Plastic Girl

Earlier in the day, while I was surfing, I was clicking away at random. At one page I saw a caption ” Koena at a party” and her photograph was there.I was like ” Ahhhh useless website, they put someone else’s photo  there ” [ It didn’t look like her at all ] I clicked to see further. And, guess what it was Koena herself. She got a nose job, I guess like for the third or fourth time. It looks so odd and disturbing. The last time she got it done, some freak doctor made her look like a ghost. But,with time and her frequent on-screen ventures, she became more and more acceptable, in fact I liked her, I guess many more of us would have got used to her new look.

Very few know that Koena’s not a mere glam doll. She has a masters in Psychology, trained in various dance forms and highly accomplished sports person. It’s alarming to know a highly educated person like her can fall prey to cosmetic surgery. I can understand if someone like MJ, JLO, lindsay lohan, etc fell for it, they neither had the awareness levels nor did they have insights like Koena. I really don’t understand why would a girl, who has already been accepted as pretty and good looking, won series of modelling contests and worked with top designers and labels would want to go under the knife. It’s ridiculous, she was already accepted as a supermodel and was ruling the modelling circuit. Moreover, she wasn’t like 50 to consider surgery, still very much in her 20s. Her actions bemuse me. What she has done to herself is really sad. She was a beautiful girl and now she is a creepy plastic figure. See for yourself.

This is one of her earliest photographs, she looked pleasant, if not great. As I said, she was one of India’s leading model.

And,then she lost her mind. In the quest of becoming more appealing, she got a nose & lip job. Result was devastating. Her career went southwards and critics slammed her for her atrocious looks.Sad.

This picture gives you a better view of her surgery scar. She sported this look for last few years. I would say it was fine, her great physique and attitude kept her going in bollywood.

By the way, she resembled MJ.. lol

Finally her latest photos. I guess these were snapped in 2011.  click the pics to get a better view and compare with her earlier pics. Poor her.

She looks a different person, doesnt she?

I really pity her, She was such a lovely looking girl and now she is reduced to a shadow of her previous self. Few years ago she was a great role model for any aspiring model and actress but now, I don’t think anyone would want to go the “Koena” way. Such a shame. Poor her. However, I still love her. * muwwaahhhh…Kisses for Koena *

why does a girl with a masters in psychology go for such a career in the first place?? u drop everything just to be a crappy piece of plastic?

and seriously…what was wrong with the way she was before? she was at least pleasant to look at…wtf has she done to herself!

      • Narendra 10:52 pm on March 9, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Hehehehehhe…Exactly…All her education is gone down the drain..but, I’m sure it wud have helped her to stay calm n composed when she got those horrible scars.. She never shied away from the Media…brave girl..She’s an intelligent girl..not like other morons…but kya karen..looks ke chakkar mein..she got trapped..poor girl…

    • Single Malt Monkey 10:55 pm on March 11, 2011 Permalink | Reply

The first shot of her at the beginning is beautiful. This is a lesson to anyone who contemplates the knife. Her search for more beauty has taken her seriously backwards because you see in her eyes in the last shot………….she’s not happy.

      • Narendra 11:01 pm on March 11, 2011 Permalink | Reply

So true..her eyes are teary..poor girl..she has lost her charm..Pity people who go in for these cosmetic enhancements..shallow ones..sad 😦

    • Sheryll 10:45 pm on March 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

You’re right, she looks awful but who am I to judge her? Maybe she doesn’t see herself beautiful enough, therefore the need for plastic surgery. She does resemble MJ.

Awwwhhh..I like to believe the same…she perhaps wasn’t happy with her looks..moreover, those were the times when Cosmetic surgery was a fad..poor girl, lost her way
